While navigating these questions, she and her partner, DS Owen Vaughan, are called to investigate when the body of a local farmer is found in a remote river. The case leads the detectives to examine the lives of two brothers: one with Down syndrome, the other his caregiver. The young men have secrets to hide and a harrowing history, blurring the line between killer and victim in a community that lacks tolerance for those who are different.
